I really enjoyed this! It was a little pop-rock by numbers, but there was some excellent material in the piano. Not sure how I felt about the drums. You got some really great sounds out of your kit and there were some inspired runs but I felt like less would have been more at times. In terms of mixing, I thought the whole thing came out sounding muddy which was a pity because overall every sound was well placed and came out pretty clear. Fuggit doe, the Major 7 at the end alone gets 4 stars.

Thanks.

Fire man. Where do you keep finding all these solid gold samples?

DJDureagon responds:

A tek! youuuuuu are like awesome. I have a few blogs i go to for my samples. I find (most) there. It helps to know the names of a few soul jazz bass players too. That's how Dilla did it, or so im told.

Holy shit it's been a long time.... Freaking love this though.

hopeku responds:

hehe I submitted a couple things rescently. Thanks! :)

Really really dig this kinda virtuoso scheme shit over jazz hop beats. You know shit's fire.

'Preciate it. We practice A LOT. Lol.

I love how last year flow was your weakside, and now it's your strong point. And oh shit this battle was too good.

Teqneek responds:

Haha, thanks bruhbruhbruhbruh. I always thought flow was my strong point for real, but I've definitely been working hard at improving since last year so I'm glad you noticed.

Glad you liked it, but I actually hated this battle for so many reasons. Just the entire process.

It took so long to complete because of CF's record-breaking lateness, plus I felt like I was caving in to his wishes by finally facing Carefoot after resisting his battle challenges and batshit craziness for so long.

AND, I wasn't happy with my recording for real. Some unexplained weirdness happened that made my vocals sound really loud and feedback-y. I had to turn a bunch of settings down to get a passable recording quality, and I never was satisfied with it. But I've been told by a few people now that it wasn't much of an issue, so that eases my mind a bit.

But for real- I hate the fact that I had to write and rap 2 verses about Nicholas Carefoot. Plus he's been a bitch since the discussion thread opened up. AND his fuckery with the beat and insane volume contrasting- that REALLY made me mad. What a scumbag.

I actually think your flow works better a cappella. Can I write you some beats for your a cappellas?

Carefoot responds:

Thanks mate. Yeah if you did I would rap over them haha much love. We should iTunes it up. Revenue share and get paid son.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. Fucking gold.

eqftc responds:

chea!

This is pretty damn awesome actually. Too much verb imho though.

ggsevv responds:

Thanks. My producer doesn't listen. -___-

I like this shit man. I mean, you're clearly finding your way through this whole production value shit newly but... there's vibe. There's soul. The rap was fucking great too. Love the way it was all put together. Soooo, in summary, this struck me as a lofi expression of some real shit.

I could quote pretty much the entire rap as dope lines. "Stop thinking soldier, double time" stuck out though. Good shit.
